Details That Feel Like Home

Detail is woven through every thread of Lovaan. Its considered in the words we write, the stories we tell, the prints we choose and the fabrics we use. Nothing is there simply for the sake of it; every detail is considered.

Home has always held a great deal of meaning for me. I grew up admiring the homes of my grandmothers-not only for how they looked, but for how they felt. They taught me that it is the smaller, more personal details that make a home feel like a home, rather than simply four white walls.

The home I lived in when I created Lovaan holds particularly special memories. It represents a poignant chapter of my life, and I cared deeply for every inch of it. We spent hours restoring, cherishing and maintaining its original features rather than replacing them with something modern. The textures, craftsmanship and signs of age were what gave the house its character. They carried the stories of the people who had lived there before us.

I would lie on the couch and endlessly study the intricate floral motifs of the wrought-iron ceiling above me. I thought about the hands that had created and painted it, the time it must have taken, and the care that had preserved it for so many years. Those tiny, time-worn details went on to inspire the embroidered cutwork of the Mia mini dress and the Candice dress.

The drapery in that home has stayed with me, too. The curtains were grand, beautifully upholstered and meticulously fitted, complete with an elaborate valance. They belonged perfectly to the room and transformed the feeling of it entirely. That sense of softness, theatre and craftsmanship continues to find its way into the way I design.

For me, fashion and home are deeply connected. Both can hold memories. Both can tell stories. And in both, it is the details-the ones someone has taken the time to imagine, create and preserve, that give them their soul.
